Miracle Dress Code for 12 YO

Fire LT

Recommended Posts

Need some help. My12 yo DD has a dress for each of the formal nights but is wondering what the dress code is for a girl her age for the rest of the dinners. She wants to be able to wear shorts and a nice T-shirt. Is this allowed or do we need to get different outfits for dinner for her?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

well not just ANY shorts are allowed in the dining room for dinner. If she has the coulotte(SP??) dress shorts then those are fine, but most 12 year olds really wouldn't have those. Sundresses are appropriate. Black pants would be appropriate, I'd say even khakis and a nice top would be okay, but that's pretty casual. plain black skirts are always nice. I wouldn't wear any denim skirts if she has them, too cas.

but that's all based on MY opinion of the rules they post. They really discourage the shorts though in the dining room

From Carnival's FAQ's:

Is there a dress code for the dining room?spacer.gifDepending on the length of the cruise, either formal dress or casual resort wear is required in the Dining Room. The dress requirement for children is the same. For those not wanting to dress up, the Lido restaurants are open nightly (with the exception of the last evening of the cruise), and have a casual dress code.

Cruise Casual Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Sport slacks, khakis, jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long), collared sport shirts; Ladies - Casual dresses, casual skirts or pants and blouses, summer dresses, Capri pants, dress shorts, jeans (no cut-offs). Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Casual dinner for ladies and gentlemen: gym shorts, basketball shorts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, cut-off jeans, and sleeveless shirts for men.

Cruise Elegant Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Dress slacks, dress shirts. We also suggest a sport coat. If you wish to wear suits and ties or tuxedos, by all means we invite you to do so. Ladies - Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; if you‘d like to show off your evening gowns, that's great too! Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Elegant dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, T-shirts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, jeans, cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men, sportswear, and baseball hats.

Shorts are only allowed on the first night. My 16 yr.old wore a denim skirt two nights, a black skirt two nights, a casual sundress 1 night, and dressy dresses for the formal nights. Does your daughter have any capris? I saw several women wearing them, too.

Please read post 3;)

Please read MY post. I said the dressy shorts are fine but regular shorts are discouraged. no khaki shorts, no cloth gym shorts (soffe brand type), no jean shorts, BUT there are the short pants at target and such that are getting popular in the business community for cas fridays. They would be made of the same material as a pair of trousers and cut to about a bermuda length.

BUT most 12 year olds wouldn't have those. They look great with a pair of pumps and a cute blouse!

PS My original comment was SUPPOSED to be "they discourage SHORT shorts in the dining room." I forgot to edit it in time yesterday!
