cruiser429 Posted April 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2008 We will be staying at La Quinta East. They have a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel and then a free shuttle to the cruise port. We stayed at La Quinta Hollywood in FLL in March and they offered the same thing, so we're trying another La Quinta.
eandj Posted April 28, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2008 I am looking for a nice hotel with a free shuttle to the ship, thanks There are no hotels near the port that offer the free shuttle to the port. But from the downtown/port hotels, it is only a 10.00 cab ride. The cab ride from the airport to the downtown hotel is about 25.00. You won't have to wait around for any hotel shuttles if you just cab it. Any shuttle services provided will be at hotels out near the airport. Cheaper rooms there too. But make sure you call and get the shuttle info or you might get a surprise or two when assuming you will be on a certain shuttle. You'll be at THIER mercy. jwlnroe Posted April 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2008 I know someone that also stayed at the La Quinta and said their shuttle worked out fine.. was a bus that fit about 50 people or so and was free of charge. But its not in a very good area so if you want to be able to see alot of stuff while your there this probably wouldn't be the place.. there is one restuarant a block away and thats about it. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites Blue Lagoon by the airport.. had a free shuttle from the airport and then was $10 per person charge to the port. Lots of restaurants, stores, etc. . right across the street. Was a very nice place to stay.. free hot breakfast as well. I would recommend it to anyone. cruiser429 Posted April 28, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2008 The area was fine. Not a tourist attraction, but definitely safe. We walked to K-Mart for soda, etc., to lunch and to dinner. There was a movie theater in the shopping area as well as Dave & Busters, Red Lobster, Sweet Tomatoes, TGIFridays, Italian Rest (excellent-get coupon at LaQuinta) and Hollywood Ale House. The shopping center it's in is called the Oakwood Plaza.

The LaQuinta Airport East in Miami has a Bennigan's within easy walking distance, but otherwise there's nothing around. We were so tired after a day of traveling that we didn't even go there. We ordered Italian delivery from one of the menus in the room.

I was describing the Hollywood La Quinta. Sorry for the mix-up.
