Sbilko Posted April 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2008 I was talking to ship’ services about the price of “Glenlevit Single Malt” and was informed that it was over $70 a bottle. Now this price is very high even for us “Frost Backs”, (Canucks). Can any one tell me what other brands of “Scotch” that Hal has available for sale? Famous Grouse maybe?
m steve Posted April 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2008 Dewars regular and 12 yr old, J. Walker red, black, green and blue, no Grouse, Cuty and J & B all in duty free gift shop. From room service I don't remember the choices as the prices were too high so we brought our own in checked bags.
sk8teacher Posted April 28, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2008 Considering they charge $32.20 for a bottle of Cutty Sark (if you can call that scotch), the price for Glennlivet is not all that bad. As I recall the last bottle of Glennlivet I purchased was around $48 at a military package store. Not all scotches found in the duty free shop are available to purchase, and if you buy it at the duty free store, you won't get it until you leave the ship at the end of the cruise. Gawga Girl Posted April 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2008 Can anyone tell me if it is possible to order a bottle of Scotch before sailing so it will be delivered to our cabin on the day of sailing or must one wait until after boarding? Things are always so hectic on sailing day, we thought it would be nice to have something on hand to enjoy. Celebrity allows ordering before boarding to be delivered at sailing. Does HAL? barante Posted April 28, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2008 We were in St. Maarten again in March, where I bought two one-liter bottles of Glenfiddich, in their metal tubes, for $23 each. I carried them onboard in a plastic bag and, as always, they were not even confiscated onboard the Noordam. So we could have had a party that night, except that we have given up alcohol. InTheWASide Posted April 28, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 28, 2008 I don't know enough about scotch to know what a good price is for that, but keep in mind the pre-ordered bottles are usually 1-1.2L bottles, not the 750mL bottles you are likely used to. That in mind, not sure if $70 is a good price or not, but it might be more reasonable that you initially thought :)
