the4ofusandallourfriends Posted October 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2004 So far our family and friends group has booked 5 statesroom with another possible 5 more statesroom to be booked. I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten perks or discounts from being part of a smaller group like this on NCL? And how did you go about getting/receiving these? KLynnG Posted October 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2004 I read it somewhere, but can't find it now, that if you bring a group that books 8 cabins you get your cabin free. Check with your TA I'm sure he/she can advise you.
VTSKIandCRUISEGUY Posted October 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2004 This past June,we had 11 cabins on the Dawn. We got 1 free person (excluding port charges). It was 1 free person for every 8 rooms. We also got a choice of 1 bottle of wine per room or a 1 hour open bar cocktail party. We chose the cocktail party which was very nice. According to my TA, the 1 person per 8 cabins is pretty standard, although depending on the sailing, it could be more or less. As for the wine/party, it changes based on the sailing and how many cabins you have. You'll just have to get your TA to ask. Also, although we were told right up front about the free person, they didn't advise the wine or party choice until about 3 months before the cruise. On the Celebrity Horizon 2 years ago, we also got 1 free per 8 cabins plus a $50 per cabin on-board credit.
20YearsBetweenCruises Posted May 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2005 Found this thread in a search - my extended family is looking to cruise together next year. Does anyone know if the group discount mentioned here is correct (1 free person per 8 cabins)?
cruisingsisters Posted May 18, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 18, 2005 Yes, that is true, 1 free berth for every 8 cabins booked. Find a good agent that passes those savings on to you. There are also amenity points for each group sailing, some have a lot of points some not as many that can be turned into shipboard credit. Makes a group cruise a better bargain sometimes!!
