top 10 things i dislike about the Galaxy

Although there are things i like about this ship, and cruise line, i feel like listing my dislikes. i am not saying these items apply only to the Galaxy.

1. Seapass? cards get messed up (or demagmetized) easily. as a result, they may not open your door, or may just fail to work in limited applications, like the onboard computer stations.

The staff were inconsistent in their advice on how to handle the card. they never told us (at check-in) to be careful. Then, when my card first had problems, I was told to keep the card away from my driver's license (which it was touching). THEN, when I continued to have problems, I was told by another staffer to not let it touch my wife's card. don't you think that would have been the first warning? matter of fact, i think Celebrity had the 2 cards touching when they gave them to us. to tell you the truth, i don't know what messes up the cards.

(in retrospect, hanging each card in plastic on a lanyard would have been good. but my frustration is with the staff.)

2. mediocre breakfast and lunch, not on par with dinner.

3. lousy TV channel selection.

4. it took too long to bring luggage from port terminal (12 noon) to room (8:00p). very short distance.

5. there is pizza and pasta until midnight, but there is no ice cream after 7:00p. i get a craving for junk food later in the evening.

6. the casual dining doesn't really compete with the anytime dining of other cruise lines. (if the Galaxy is trying to compete.)

7. as we sat on the aft of the ship, young staff members in uniform (not officer uniforms) sat nearby eating and making a lot of noise. i am sensitive to this bcz i feel they are not paying to be on the ship. they should tone it down. i more tolerate paying guests that are noisy.

8. again, in aft of ship, at times, not enough bar staff to ask if we wanted a drink. they would sometimes leave to work the pool area.

9. in the buffet, at breakfast, they would keep the spoons by the oatmeal. when you got your tray, they omitted the spoon. (possibly too many spoon users.)

people kept asking where the spoons were. THEN, as the cruise progressed, at some stations, they would switch the spoon locations. (eg. you got a spoon with your other cutlery.) but this wasn't done consistently at every line. spoon havoc.

10. in buffet, at breakfast, they couldn't seem to keep all boxed dry cereal stocked until end of breakfast. the same with the mixed berries. the next day, early on, everything was in supply again!!! it just gives the appearance that the managers are either cheap or lazy.

p.s. i would go again if i got the same good price. but right now my favs are RCL and Princess.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? LOL!!

Not that I'm the poster boy for positiveness here, but... care to share what you liked?

I admit that i like whining. here's my likes.

1. some breakfast was available into quite late in the morning, which you don't expect with the senior crowd.

2. personally, i liked sitting on the aft of the ship, drinking a "bucket" of beer. some ships don't have an area like that due to the ship's design.

3. customer service over the phone or at the main desk was good and responsive.

4. porn movies (on your stateroom TV) were good, and reasonable priced.

(i didn't expect this on Celebrity!)

5. as alluded to b4, the dinners (in the dining room) were excellent.

6. as stated b4, the price for the Galaxy to the Caribbean is good.

7. mixed berries at breakfast (when available)

8. Caner Egin :):):) (this asst. maitre'd was the star of the cruise for us)

and i must repeat...i would sail her again. i hoped that spoke for itself. possibly not.

After reading Johno95 top 10 dislikes about Galaxy and his favorite cruise lines being RCCL and Princess, I thought I should list my top 100 dislikes that I experienced on Sereneda of the Seas. But then I thought it over and it really comes down to a matter of opinion. Doesn't it ?????????????:)

i guess a lot of people want you, when you return from a cruise, to list BOTH the positive and negative points. and i think this makes a lot of sense. especially for those never having sailed Celebrity and/or Galaxy. they want a balanced view.

But maybe these newbies can do some work, read a few posts, and get a mix of opinions that way. mabe someone will say they like the food and service. for me, the negatives stand out. i like being critical in a negative sense. some people like coming back from a cruise and telling people about the positives. i won't criticize THEM for not being balanced.

YOW asked me for a list of things i liked. i see my list isn't getting any comments. i feel like i wasted my time.

PROOF! that complainers just LOVE to complain. JPM_rofl.gif

Great news : Galaxy was just in dry-dock and refurbished..... apparently just after johno's cruise.

Sad news : Galaxy is leaving the Celebrity fleet after her Carib route next year. icon_cry.gif I love the C-Class ships, but they're slowly disappearing.

Galaxy was our first cruise, and while she's not perfect, it was a jaw-dropping experience, and wonderful enough to get us hooked on cruising. I will miss Galaxy as well, as I had hoped to cruise on her again.

And none of the things Johno mentioned that he didn't like were an issue for me. We all have our own likes/dislikes.

Wish he could have been on our t/a cruise of the Galaxy in December when a young lady complained ....and I kid you not.. that there were no jimmies for the ice cream.. she was very upset.lol There were at least four wet toppings and more than a dozen dry toppings and she complained to the Maitre de..lol We found the buffet breakfast much better than the dining room..btw

SERIOUSLY??? They have PORN movies on Celebrity cruises? I'm sorry, but I have just never heard of this. I had no idea that there were porn movies on ANY cruise ship! There certainly weren't any on any of the cruises *I'VE* been on! Or did I just somehow miss them???

I never have either, I guess I was having to much fun on the cruise to even think about the television. I can watch TVat home.

Yes, it's there... on the Pay Per View channels under the Adult type ....... and they're SOFT porn. Ummm, at least that's what someone told me.;) It's the same as in every hotel/motel now days that has cable piped in, and it can be blocked by request if you wish. I agree with JC. Why would anyone spend a second watching TV (no matter what the content) when you're on a cruise!?!

I've always thought the term "Soft Porn" to be quite amusing:D Somewhat of an oxymoron.

Am I gonna get in trouble:rolleyes:

Although, I think you may have issues if your on a cruise and you wind up with soft porn for entertainment. Expensive.:D

actually, i said i would sail again, if i got the same good price.

i am NOT thrilled with your passive aggressiveness. you and others with similar statements.

and JCDeck, the superior one, who would never watch TV (unlike me) bcz you can do that at home...I guess you never would have sex on a ship either, huh?

I'm thrilled that the OP will never EVER have to sail on Celebrity again!! It's just wonderful!!

Didn't say I would or wouldn't but if I did I wouldn't need a "Movie" but that's just me. I don't watch a lot of TV at home either so I'm definately not watching reruns on a cruise, I'm out and about. To each his own.
