KarenNC Posted May 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2008 We're planning the Uxmal ruins trip when we visit Progreso aboard the Fantasy in a couple weeks. We're thinking about booking the trip through autoprogreso but unlike the Carnival excursion, it doesn't include lunch. So what do you do? Is there a way to bring lunch from the ship? Is there someplace to eat at Uxmal? Thanks! Karen
hdawson Posted May 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2008 As you enter the ruins there is a gift shop and a snack bar. Do not take food from the ship.
Poodlebud Posted May 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2008 This is the lunch they give you on the bus to Uxmal. A bag of chips, a small apple, a slice of cake and a bottle of water. The sandwich was ham, I think.
sas80 Posted May 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2008 There is a restaurant at Uxmal. I don't know what the cost of the food was....but the ritas were about $7! :D The restaurant was busy tho, so I would think they must be doing something right! $5 "Mayan themed" T-shirts at Uxmal. Pretty cool ones, too!
LSUcajunmom Posted May 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2008 If you are fortunate enough to get Manuel Polo(ask for him) through Autoprogresso ask him to bring y'all to Bienvendios(sp?). He brought us there after the tour and it was fabulous. Tell him Joe and Amy sent you. He is the best guide and if you are truly lucky you will get him all to yourself. It was my DH and I, the taxi cab driver and Manuel. We had the best time. I think we ended up tipping him and the driver probably as much as the tour cost. $55 per person is what the tour cost us. Good luck! Enjoy and watch out for the Swallows(birds) and the iguanas.
