fromtheplains Posted May 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2008 I will be arriving in NYC next October the day before I leave on the QE2 for the Final Transatlantic Crossing. Any suggestions for the best hotel to stay in in order to watch the QE2 come up the Hudson that morning as she arrives from England? Thanks for any suggestions you can make. bobnatt Posted May 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2008 New York Marriott Downtown which is at the tip of Manhattan and a short walk from Battery Park where you can see the QE2 coming up the beginning of the Hudson River with the Statue of Liberty in the background. With the sun out it will be a spectacular last photo of the ship arriving in NYC to begin its final voyage back to the United Kingdom.
smeyer418 Posted May 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2008 The Hotel Le Blu in Brooklyn has rooms with a view of the Harbor....
JPEvans Posted May 2, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2008 Or the Ritz-Carlton at Battery Park. Maybe has the best views of all. This is where the president of Carnival Corp had their gala to view the tandem departure of the QM2 and QE2 back in 2004

Mid-Oct sunrise is around 6 AM, and sometimes QE2 comes up the river before that. Even so, she would be a magnificent sight. I'll be on deck, probably crying. The Real PM Posted May 3, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 3, 2008 Yes, I would bet the Ritz Carlton at Battery Park would be one of the best views. We stayed there before our cruise in March and if you take a room facing the harbor, the view is marvelous.
