UF G8R Posted May 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2008 A friend who cruised in 05 recomended getting the phone number of a taxi cab service in Whittier before we go. She took the train (to Seward) and planned on walking to the ship. However, it was raining and they ended up with more luggage then originally planned and she was happy to have the cab service preprogrammed into her mobile phone. WHen they realized that walking to the ship would be unpleasant, she called a cab and it was well worth the few bucks. Anyone have a taxi xervice in Whittier? Or is the Whittier train station-port trip different enough from Seward.
ARRTrain Posted May 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2008 There are no taxis in Whittier, unless you call one from Anchorage, about 60 miles away. It will be spendy. If you are getting on a train in Whittier, the Cruise Terminal and Train Stop are across the street from each other.
trooper 1 Posted May 4, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2008 (Edited) If you are getting on a train in Whittier, the Cruise Terminal and Train Stop are across the street from each other. If you are uncomfortable with walking, you could ask a person also getting off the train to request Princess to send over a wheel chair. It is not that far. There were stevedores loading baggage for the ship between the train stop and the cruise terminal. Betcha you could flash a ten dollar bill and ask them to get your baggage and load it. A travel tip: Do not hesitate self claiming your baggage from the baggage car. Last Fall I darn near had to go from Whittier to Beijing without any baggage. The train was going on to Seward and was in a big hurry to leave Whittier.
