just off the Spirit

Just off the Spirit yesterday. Had a great time with only a few problems. We arrived around 12 and everything was smooth and orderly. We were on the boat at around 1 and eating at windows. Do not go to the buffet everyone else is sent there and from what i hear it was packed. I will try to keep this short. Overall everything was great. Room stewards were ok the room was clean but no extra's (towel animals, etc.) in the evening they cleaned late and we usually just got our freestyle and of course our chocolates and sent them away.The casino was a joke. Never heard any bells and whistles on the slots, i played a lot and won nothing. If you are a Texas-holdem fan be carefull. The price is $60.00 what they do not tell you until you start is it is a rebuy tourney and when people are out they have people waiting that can jump in the game any time before break. People were going nuts with the rebuys. I won my way into the finals in a blackjack tourney. When i was on the Majesty final table got free drinks as well as everyone at the final table left with something (t-shirt, champagne, etc.) not on the Spirit. No drinks and only the first 3 places get something. All week they promote you could win up to $500.00 when all was said and done the winner got $279.00. The casino was making a ton of money they should have paid the $500.00 and everyone should have at least got a free drink . Be careful if you go to the spa. I stopped in to inquire about the teeth whitening. I know from being on other cruises that the days you are in port they offer special so i asked if they would do 2 for the price of one. The girl said yes your bottoms and her tops we laughed and I walked away as we did she said out load in front of other cruises this is not a bargain basement. I was so embarressed but kept walking, i kept thinking about it then decided to report this to the front desk. I spoke with Elaine who was very nice she said she would have the spa manager get in touch with me. Next day she called i told her what happened and she said the girl was probably joking. I said no she was not she said she would peak to her about it. Never heard from her again. Elaine from the reception desk was wonderful she called as well as left a note to make sure we were o.k. I said not really but lets forget about it. A few days later i read that as a lattitudes member i could get 20% off so i decided to have my daughters teeth done. Watch you bill the price should have been $159.00 plus grat.( had got a price before booking from the manager) they charged me $179.00 plus grat. Then i had to wait until they spoke with the manager (who was no there)to change the price.They called me in about an hour to come sign the correct receipt. I had a special Massage, facial it was great. Be carefull they try to sell you expensive products.

 

We stayed on the ship except in Nassua. When you get off the boat there will be taxi drivers trying to sell you a 2 hour tour around the Island. Do it it was worth the $20.00 pp. If they try to charge more just offer $20.00pp they will take it. Entertainment on the ship was great. Bingo is very expensive and not worth the money. We ate at windows a lot. We never went to any of the pay rest.. Overall great cruise, great food only a few problems. If you drink get the bar set up well worth it. I could go on and on but won't just wanted to everyone to be aware of the few problems i had. Would i take this cruise again. Yes, yes, yes. Oh i forgot gettng off the boat was a joke. If you are smart let them take you luggage and opt for the lattest time. We carried our own and it took 1 1/2 hours standing on the steps with everyone else just to get off the ship (fire hazzard) then we had to get in another line to go thru customs.

I am also interested in what time the ship returned, also I read last week, there were some complaints that the soap and shampoo dispensers were empty and not filled throughout the cruise. Is that still an issue???

Great to meet you on the ship! Sorry you had a few problems. I'll be posting a review in the next day or so! We did opt for late disembarkation...it was GREAT! No lines, nothing. We hired a porter to take our luggage when we got off and there was a separate line just for the porters. We didn't have to wait on the ridiculously long customs lines at all. It was GREAT!

The boat arrived around 9 by the time we got in our car it was 11:40. We had no problems with soap. If someone did thats a quick fix. We had such a great time i am going to plan a group cruise on the same boat next year. It will be doing the Boston to Bermuda run. Have done that three times on the Majesty great trip. If anyone is interested in the group rates i will be getting let me know and i will send to you. I am going to try to book the first week in July 2009. I will do my research tomorow and get the best price. Take Care

You were smart to hire a Porter. We ended up carrying our luggage down the stairs. I had hurt my back before the cruise it was better but i must admit it is sore today from all the luggage we carried.) course i overpacked. We were discussing they pump you up all week you have a great time then they spoil it as you are getting off and stress you out. I felt bad with the family's with young children. Stay on the boat late let them handle your luggage rather that be stressed like most leaving the ship (express LOL)

Thanks! We had a BLAST! We decided to wait until later (we chose 12:20pm disembarkation), but we were off the ship before noon. We had a leisurely morning. It was great not to rush out! While we were getting off the ship, there seemed to be only a few stragglers left. We didn't have to wait for anything. I highly suggest choosing a later colored luggage tag...and DEFINITELY get the porter to bring your luggage through customs with you! We saved a minimum of an hour. You will have a great time!
