disneedee Posted May 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2008 is it possible to do the old fashion dining on ncl? we have a group of about 20 going and really like having the set dining time and location so that we can all get back together at the end of the day and visit and compare days
CruisnGram Posted May 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2008 Our group of 13 wanted to do the same thing on our Sun cruise in March. Groups of 8 or more are welcome to make a reservation for the main dining rooms. However, you can only make the reservation for prior to 6:15 or after 8:30 as they will not accept reservations for prime dining hours - 6:15 till 8:30. You are supposed to make the reservation on a day to day basis, but after we made the reservation for the 1st night, we fell in love with the maitre'd in one of the main dining rooms and decided to stay in that same dining room all week. Since he knew we wanted to come to dinner every night at 6 pm, he just took care of it for us and always had our table waiting....we didn't have to call on a daily basis to reserve. I'm sure you could do the same if you don't want to flip back and forth between the 2 main dining rooms as each has it's own maitre'd....just talk to him or her to get the standing reservation. If you do want to change back and forth, you will have to make your own reservation every day. I do not know if they can accomodate all of you at one table though. I'm sure every ship is different but our group of 13 seemed to be about the largest they could handle at one table on the Sun.
BeachBumMama Posted May 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2008 Another option may be to set up dinner for a certain number of nights, then let everyone do their own thing on other nights. The nights you don't have dinner together, set up a time and place to meet in the evening somewhere after dinner. That way everyone gets a few nights to maybe enjoy an alternative restaurant if they wish or another venue.
DAGVBSB Posted May 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2008 is it possible to do the old fashion dining on ncl? we have a group of about 20 going and really like having the set dining time and location so that we can all get back together at the end of the day and visit and compare days No tables large enough for 20 on most ships. But with our group of 17, they put us at two adjacent tables which was great. Like the other poster said, group reservations in the main restaurants are only for times before 6:15 or after 8:15 p.m.... not during the busy dining hours of 6:15-8:15. In the specialty restaurants, you can make group reservations for any times that they have that many spaces available but since that is a day to day thing, it is much easier to plan groups in the main restaurants. You didn't mention which ship.
