Juneau trip to the Glacier

Recommended Posts

We're spending so much $$$ on excursions in Skagway, Ketchikan, etc. that we are thinking about just hitting the Red Dog and maybe seeing the glacier in Juneau.

If you don't take a tour, can you take a shuttle or something to go out to view the Glacier? Has anyone ever done this on your own, and was it worth your time? How much did it cost you?

Thanks for the input.

There is a shuttle that goes to Mendenhall. It costs about $7pp each way. Entry to the visitor center is $3 but you don't have to go to the visitor center to see the glacier. The shuttle is located near the Mt. Roberts tram.
