Hi There

My husband and I are planning a 15 day round trip from either LA or San Diego in 2009 - we had thought about December but it seems like weather unrpedictable and water rough - can anyone suggest what time of year is best for both weather and water - and any suggestions on best cruise line would be helpful - we are "light" partiers - more casino and margarita happy than anything... Any suggestions would be appreciated... thank you Lorri

We also went in Oct. 2007 and are planning to do it again the same time in 2009.

Had great weather. All around. Water was GREAT snorkeling in Kona and waterfall hike in Maui.

One bummer is on Princess, Kona is off the itenerary in 09.

We did the Princess 15 day in February. Water conditions changed each day...but were not too bad at all. I love the roll and pitch myself....that's why I cruise. My wife gets seasick, and had no problems on this trip.

I say...go sometime during the whale season...they are EVERYWHERE!

Chances of rough seas on the open ocean are much higher the closer your cruise is to mid January.

Lots of whales Jan-April.

I'd rather avoid July/August for the heat, but it's nowhere near as bad as lots of places and some people don't mind it

My favorite time is from May to mid-July. Shower trees and jacaranda are in their full glory and mangoes, litches and pineapples are in season. White pineapples on the Big Island. Oh, Yum!!! Less chance of hurricane, too. Northern beaches are usable by May.
