going out of Baltimore-parking ?

Has anyone sailed out of Baltimore,md? We are on July 12th on the Majesty, was wondering about parking. I got directions to the port. thanks Lancaster

Sorry I can't answer your question specifically, but you might want to try the East Coast Departures board. There may be some info there but you might have to wait until the sailings out of Baltimore start, as I don't think they've started yet. Perhaps between now and your cruise in July there may be some postings.

 

You also might want to try a google search for Port of Baltimore and see what kind of information they have for parking.

Parking Fees

We make it easy for you; no advance reservations are required to park in our secure lot located next to the Cruise Maryland Terminal. Our long-term parking lot, which includes handicap parking spaces, is located within walking distance of the Passenger Building. Parking fees are payable upon arrival by credit card, cash or travelers check. We accept Visa, MasterCard & American Express.

 

Passenger Cars - $13.00 per day

Recreational Vehicles - $25.00 per day

Busses - $35.00 per day

Upon arrival, passengers will be directed to drop off their luggage in the appropriate luggage boxes for screening and handling. Please have your cruise line issued luggage tags filled out and attached to your bags. If you do not have tags, upon entry to the terminal, visit the tent marked Cruise Luggage Tags (located on your left as you enter) to receive your tags.

After dropping off your luggage, you will then proceed to our long-term parking lot.

I live 1/2 hour from the Baltimore cruise port and have yet to cruise out of there. Something odd about flying to FL to cruise when I have a port that close to me isn't it? LOL

I live in the baltimore area and researched cruises leaving that port. The majesty is the only boat in Baltimore and from what I found, it is an old boat with no balcony. We decided to leave on the Dawn from NY.

 

Is it true about the Majesty and lack of balcony?

Yes it is. No balcony's on the Majesty. RCCL goes out of Baltimore too, so I may just have to give them a try again. Problem is with the NCL incentives like cruise rewards, Casino's at Sea,and NCL Mastercard, it's really hard to go to another line and spend so much more money. The baseline price for NCL is cheaper then RCCL to start with and when you add on all the savings from the programs I mentioned, the difference in price becomes IMMENSE.

 

I did my first Caribbean with NCL out of FL but am on the Dawn out of NY for Canada/NE this fall. It's so nice not to have to spend that money for airfare, not counting the hassle of flying. I think in the future, I'm going to try sailings out of Philly and Boston too as both are driveable. That should give me a few more choices. Since the Majesty is sold, I'm wondering what if anything will replace her in Baltimore?

If you want a nice ship with a balcony and all the bells, whistles and frills, the Dawn is a good ship for that. With the Majesty's age and size you won't find all that, but there is a quaintness about her. Even though old, she has style and grace you won't find on the bigger ships. She's a little ship with a big heart and the best crew at sea.

 

And in my opinion she has the best gig going for a Bermuda cruise in being able to dock in St. George's for 3 days.

 

Just wanted to let you know in case in the future you get a chance to consider it. I've been on both the Dawn and the Majesty and love them both for very different reasons. But the Majesty to Bermuda was one of my favorite and most relaxing cruises ever.:)

Nothing to be wary about as long as you know what to expect, you won't be disappointed.:) Some people picture 'old' as broken down, dirty, etc. and that definately doesn't apply to the Majesty. She's very well taken care of and the dedicated crew is unbelievable. The absolute best I've ever seen in over a dozen cruises. I'm dying to get back on her before she leaves.:) Many people have sailed her 10+ times to Bermuda. Many, many repeat cruisers so that says alot about her right there. And when she leaves the fleet I'm not sure NCL will have another ship to fit through the cut at St. Georges. They're keeping the Sky but I don't think she fits through. It will be a true loss if there are no ships that sail and stay at St. Georges.

 

I did read ages ago about a possible new pier (I'm sure years into the future) just on the outside of the cut but don't know what ever became of those plans. Have never read anything else about it.

 

I too am not quite sure about the 4000 people floating cities.:eek: Out of curiousity I think I'll have to venture onto one just for the experience. I felt like I needed at least 2 weeks on the Dawn to see everything, the larger ships are going to take a 3 week sailing!:D

I agree. Our cruise to Bermuda on the Crown was great, and the most memorable part was the day and night in St. George's. I am thinking of sailing the Majesty next summer instead of my plan to cruise to Greece. I don't want to miss a chance before the small ships are all gone. Do you know when they will retire the Majesty???

I know she's on the schedule until end of Oct. 2009 for Bermuda but I don't see anything else after that.:( I dont even see her for the Caribbean or Bahamas out of Charleston after that. So maybe she'll be gone by end of next year?

The Majesty has already been sold to Louis Cruise Lines. NCL is leasing the Majesty until the present schedule of cruises is completed. The Majesty will leave NCL's fleet next fall (2009).
