jetcruisers Posted October 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Has anyone had a problem with bringing wine or liquor on Celebrity? I know most of the cruise lines state that you may not do this, but some are more lenient than others. We're sailing on the Horizon to Bermuda in 3 days and can't wait! greeneg Posted October 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2004 You can, but if you're caught there is a corking charge which pretty much negates any advantage to doing so, IMHO.
Quartetlead Posted October 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Last month on the Galaxy, we brought liquor and wine on board several times with no difficulty. If you take wine to the dining room, you will be charged a $15 corkage fee. Bud Laumann
Irishwhiskey Posted October 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2004 We bring a couple of bottles of wine with us on every cruise we go on.We bring it in our carryon luggage and put it through the scanner and have never had any problem with it.We use it for the cabin mostly and sometimes late nite on deck. We don't bring it to dinner. We sail with Celebrity once a year and sometimes with RCCL without incident. If the cruiselines ever stopped charging a corkage fee you would see this practice stopped. As long as the cruiselines can cash in on all the liquor that is bought onboard don't be to concerned about bringing some with you.NCL was the only line that we have had any incident with. They take all bottles away from you and will charge a corkage fee for their use onboard. Nancyquilts Posted October 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2004 We often take a few bottles of wine to enjoy in the cabin. Don't forget the bottle opener! Nancy
BB5953 Posted October 6, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2004 the answer to your question is yes you may. If you decide to take wine to the DR you may be charged a corking fee. I was not charged a fee however, I believe it is your waiter's decision as many on the board post that they are charged a fee. Probably a 50/50 chance. You will not be charged a fee any where else on the ship.
jetcruisers Posted October 6, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Thanks for the wine/liquor info. We last sailed on NCL in June and they were very strict with their liquor policy, so it's nice to know we won't feel like theives (sp) for just wanting to have a drink in our cabin on this cruise. I'm packing the corkscrew right now! Tom and Eileen
Bill HaHa Posted October 6, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 6, 2004 We have taken both Johnnie walker Black and wine on board without a problem. We only drink it in our cabin ....We always buy drinks in the lounges and at dinner
