"Bump" cabins on AOS?

Recommended Posts

Hi. We were looking for a Jr. suite cabin on AOS and several of them are on the "bum". Is there an advantage to getting one of these cabins? Is the balcony smaller or less private?

Here are the available cabiins for our cruise:

9618 - middle of bump
9318 - "
9324 - start of "bump"
9308 - right before bump
9268 - mid ship

If anyone has had any of these cabins & I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks!

Hi there...advantages and disadvantages to being on the "hump". If you can get a cabin directly in the middle (I believe 9618 and 9318), some would say it was the place location for a cabin. The advantage to being there is you are able to see towards the front and back of the ship.

As for the other places (disadvantage) on the hump, depending on location of the cabin, you cannot see forward or you may not be able to see backward. Last year, we got a cabin that wasn't even on the hump, but it was a few cabins away and we were not able to see the front of the ship since the hump was blocking us.

I recently booked a cabin (8618) on the hump for my AOS cruise this October. Right in the middle and I think I'm going to be super happy!

Our cabin is in the middle of the Bump. We are in cabin 9620 which is on the port side. We have never had a cabin on the Bump before, but I had read about it on the boards. We are going on AOS on 5/2/04. We like the port side since the ship docks on this side in Aruba.

We had 9318 and LOVED it! The best stateroom on the ship for that category. The elevators are not really near the room. There is a hall and wall between the stateroom and elevator banks.

We were in 9618 last November (cat. C, now a JS) and it was an awesome cabin. Lots of space, loved the walk-in closet, and shaving my legs in the bathtub was a heck of a lot easier than trying to do it in one of those little showers. That cabin is directly in the center of the bump, so we had clear views forward and aft, and the balcony walls were solid metal, so we also had complete privacy. If you can get it at a decent price, I highly recommend it.

Lorraine - Hi next door neighbor! From the diagram, it looks like there are 3 cabins in the middle of the Bump. I've seen you recently on our Roll Call. Did you put your information on the Roll Call? I can't find it. I assume you registered for the Meet & Mingle. There are a few others on Deck 9. Will look for you on our Roll Call.

Ok, now I'm worried, what's wrong with 9312 and 9314?

Only thing I see about those staterooms are that they connect to each other. You can hear people in the other stateroom somewhat through the door. One is a Cat. C and the other a Cat. D. If you know the person you are connected with, no problem as those both have good views. 9318 is just the best!

Hi Family,

Thanks for the input. I chose them because they are connecting - we're in the C and the kids are in the D. I just want to be sure there are good views.

That's a great configuration for a family. The view will be good as well. Enjoy!

Msdental - I haven't seen you on our Roll Call for a while. Hope you're still reading it. We're on page 42! We are also anxiously waiting for our cruise to start. Hope you remember that I Emailed you many months ago & told you about our Roll Call.

I don't know anything about your cabin.

Hi Msdental...I think it's a good location. The only thing is you won't be able to see the back (aft) of the ship. I was in a similar location on the 7th deck on my last cruise. Just about everyone has that problem too because the "hump" sticks out and blocks the view. Your cabin is mid ship and near the elevators. I wouldn't hesitate to take the cabin since it's in a good location.
