Hello all...I've been looking for info on the Victory and can't seem to find much.

Can anyone give me Pro's - Con's - Must See - Must Do - Best - Worst etc, etc.

We are cruising August 23 to Halifax & St. John's. I've been to the ports before but not on the Victory.

Victory has been redone and got the bigscreen since we were on her for the st johns run last august. We highly preferd the dining room to the buffet we ate almost every meal there including breakfast. on that cruise alot of the action is going on in the lounges since it was foggy and not very warm on our trip but there was always fun to be had somewhere. have a great cruise. If you can avoid a room high and front try to it gets a lil annoying when they use the foghorn

I really like the Irish pub theme for the piano bar, so depending on who's playing (on one of our Victory cruises they had a guitar player instead of a piano player:eek:), it's a nice place to hang out. The Ionian Lounge, which is the cigar bar, is a really comfortable place to listen to jazz if you're not bothered by cigar smoke. There's a nice outdoor deck off the main lobby on deck 3 - I like getting a drink at the atrium bar and going outside to sit and watch the ocean go by.

There are lots of complaints about Victory's layout. Decks 3 and 4 do not go through because the galley is between the two dining rooms, and lots of folks get confused by it. It's the same basic layout on the Conquest-class ships, but for some reason I read more complaints about Victory than other ships with similar layouts. If you're on those decks, just remember to go to deck 5 to go from one end of the ship to the other. (Deck 2 works as well, but it's a cabin deck.)

I really liked the decor on the Victory. I like the speciality coffee place on the Neptune Way or some such..after casino. I enjoyed getting a cappacino and sitting there watching the world go by. It was a pretty popular place on our last sea day as it was foggy out.

I liked the deli and grill for lunch. I dont care for the buffet at all for lunch. Breakfast buffet is ok but I like room service. We did room service on disembarking day and then self assist. It was really relaxing as buffet is always packed on this day.

Have a great time!

I just got back from the Victory yesterday. LOVED the ship!

Pro's

ship is very well maintained

crew are very friendly!

big screen awesome on deck!

slide has plenty of water for a fast easy ride!

shipboard shows are good!

Con's

no real "non-smoking" areas, seems everyone just smokes no matter what the area signs say or do not say; cigs laying on decks, not nice or safe!!

no "kid free" hot tubs (the spa hot tubs were removed in the refrubrish..what were they thinking!!!???)

lido deck band does not have real steel drums just tracks :(

Pros:

Great staff. Really clean. Video screen was great. Really liked the pool and hot tubs at the rear, main Lido pools were too noisy and crowded for my taste.

Cons:

They made me get off the ship and go home after my week was over.

Since you have been on a Canada cruise before, you already know about the thing that gets the most complaints. It's different from a "regular" cruise because the temperatures are typically cooler (and sometimes cold). My first two cruises where on the Victory to Canada, and I had a great time.

The theme and decor of the ship are really nice, and I experienced excellent service from the crew both times. On the second cruise, there was a group of passengers that was very rowdy, but other than that it was a great cruise.

Oh, and the seahorses on stairway bite, so watch your legs. They only got me once, but be on the look-out.
