Cpsjis Posted May 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2008 We will be in St. Thomas in a couple of weeks. We plan on getting a taxi over to Magan's Bay, but we would also like to take some good pictures from Drake's seat or somewhere with a similar view. My question is, is Drake's seat on the way to Megan's bay or will the taxi driver have to go out of his way and thus charge us more $$$. Thanks for your help. The Islander Posted May 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2008 There are two look out areas that are sort of on the way to Magens. The skyline overlook is over Charlotte Amalie harbor and depending on the direction the driver is coming it could be along the way to Magens otherwise its just a short turn off. And the Drakes's Seat overlook is over Magens Bay, which would be a short turn off from the road to Magens. The Drakes Seat and Skyline look outs are close to each other, a couple minutes drive. The driver might charge more if asked to stop at one or the other or both, the best bet is to discuss that you want to do this before even getting in the vehicle so that if there is a price increase that you know about it beforehand. Also many of the taxis that cater to the cruise port are vans or safaris, some safaris can hold up to 26 people. If you are grouped with others going to Magens which is how it usually works, everyone may not want to stop for photos so again would need to be mentioned before heading out. Havensight to Magens is $8 per person, one way. Crown Bay to Magens is $10 pp, ow. --Islander
