Should I buy travel insurance?

We always purchase it the day we book our cruise, that way even pre-existing medical conditions are covered. It is worth eveyr penny.

 

We had to cancell one of our cruises the morning of sailing as I ended up in emergency and then in the hospital for 3 days. The insurance gave us a full refund.

I just purchased my travel insurance through insuremytrip.com. I bought the Travelex TravelLite. My husband and I are cruising at the end of July and with the hurricane seasons we have had in the past, we thought it would be well worth the money. The plan cost $79 total (not per peron). I feel $79 is a small price to pay to have the peace of mind that God forbid something happen, all is covered!

 

I will say that we have cruised in the past without insurance and everything was fine but the last time we cruised, I fell down the steps coming out of the hottub. Thank goodness I only had a bruise but I could have broken my tailbone and been SOL. So, from now one we will just suck it up and pay the $79 fee!

Depends on age/health and policy. Check out the coverage and pick the best applicable to your situation and risks. Definitely compare policies. The coverage varies widely and you can determine to a large extent the risks you are most likely to encounter. Try one of the websites to find the best insurance. Remember, your health insurance may not cover any medical treatment in or evacuation from a foreign country.

I was glad I had it when I had to cancel less than 24 hours prior to sailing. It was due to a medical misdiagnosis and I am glad I didn't board and have to get treatment in a 3rd world country medical facility...

20 cruises never bought insurance. I would also never buy an extended warranty. sailed thru 2 hurricanes in progress and the captain just sailed around them and reversed the itinery.
