St Thomas - What's best?

We will be on an eastern caribbean cruise with a stop in St Thomas. Should we book cruises through the ship or direct on the island? What would be a good cruise for a family with two daughters (10 and 12)? We would like to see the island but nothing too strenuous. Thanks.

In that case it really depends. The excursions through the ship are usually pricier but everything is already arranged for you and they say that they will not leave without you if you get delayed. (That saved me on one trip!) There are also private excursions that are very reputable and reasonable. Many on this board speak highly of Sunny Liston and also of Godfrey. They do a shopping, island tour and beach excursion. It is also very easy to catch a cab and do your own thing. Of course you must be sure to watch the time, allow for the traffic, etc. We have done a ship excursion, we have also done our own thing in a cab. It all depends on what works best for your family, your finances, and your peace of mind. Have fun!!
