Cave Tubing with Xtreme

Hello,

We got back on Sat. Oct 2 from our NCL Sea cruise. We did the cave tubing with Xtreme. The guide was great. He picked us up at shore, took us to the tubing spot and we hiked 45 minutes through the jungle (moderate activity). He constantly stoped to tell us about the medicinal trees/flowers, fauna, etc. He was EXTREMELY informative. We went to a spot where we jumped to the river, but you can also just walk in if you wish. Now...the river/caves are indeed beautiful, with gorgeous formations, etc. It took us a couple of hours to complete. There're many shallow spots, so you have to paddle along and lift your butt so you won't hit the rocks. So, it was enjoyable, but definitely there's nothing "extreme" about it. We live in Texas and go tubing a lot in the Guadalupe river. This river is deep and there're even some rapids which are a lot of fun. So, my husband and son were kinda "ho-hum" about it, if not a little bored. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, but VERY slow paced. If you're into nature and simply appreciating the beauty, etc., then this is for you. We love nature, but also like to do fun/exciting things (my son is 20). We did the ATV's in Cozumel and the canopy tour in Roatan. The cave tubing was just "nice" and "pretty". It's all about preference a lot of people absolutely love it. Just be warned that there's really nothing extreme about it, unless you consider lifting your butt many times so as not to shred your bottom during the MANY shallow parts extreme.

We booked with Xtreme yesterday and got our confirmation, we will be cave tubing on Nov 3. They seemed very helpful and cooporative and had an online operator with a link from their website to answer any questions! 3 weeks and counting down!

We just returned from the NCL SEA and went to Belize on 10/13. We used xstream cave tubing also, and had a fantastic time. Our guide was Thomas. He was very knowledgeable, and took great care with my 7 year old, keeping her close to him at all times while in the tubes. The groups from the ship came to the same place - didn't get the jungle walk, and got out of the river much sooner than we did. With the large group they had, there is no way they could have learned much about the caves, they just floated along in a huge group, anyone at the end couldn't have heard a guide. Thanks again Thomas!!!
