L&D-RN Posted May 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2008 Ok-I'm finally gonna sit down and at least start this review. If anyone has any questions/comments-post away! I took this cruise with my husband and in laws. We are in our 20's, they are in their 40's. It was our college graduation cruise from the in laws. What a wonderful gift it was-I must say! FRIDAY: We drove to Fl friday. We stayed @ the Marriot Residence Inn. Very nice hotel. We actually walked to Fishlips friday night to meet up with some of the people on cruise critic-that was fun! Watch out for "The Yard". Let me warn you-it's $26.00!!!! No-they don't advertise this on the menu, they let you find out on the bill!!! It was a shock!! SATURDAY: They had a shuttle to take us to and from the boat (via Coco Beach Shuttle) for $6 per person (round trip). The hotel also let you keep your car parked there for the week-which saved lots of money! Def a good idea. For furture cruises-this is the way to go. The shuttle buses were able to drive right up to the door (pretty much), unload your luggage, and you were off to sign in. Signing in was easy. It goes by cabin numbers. There are plenty of people around to point you in the right direction if needed. This is when you get your sign & sail card. Then you board the boat. As you board they take your picture for your card. After this is when you are free to do whatever you want until the life boat drill. The drill is hot and crowded. After the drill we went to the lido deck to get some drinks and cool down.We watched to boat sail away! We went to dinner the first night in the dinning room. Our waiters were great. U Made & Martin! That night we went to the free liquor tasting. We sampled some drinks and the guys bought some. They keep the liquor that you buy until the last night of the cruise and they deliver it to your room. We also went to the "Welcome Aboard Show" that night. It was a good show. The male and female signers were both great! I enjoyed all the shows throughout the entire cruise. SUNDAY: We were in Nassau. We did the Atlantis excursion. We got off the boat and walked a short distance to get on another boat and took about a 15 minute ride over to a different harbor. The crew members on the boat were funny. They told little tid-bits about the places we passed on the ride over. The boat docked and we walked about 10 minutes to Atlantis.***** We grouped up with a tour guide and off we went. We walked through the area where you can shop, then through the casinos. The coolest part were these crystal sculptures. (Ok-I had to delete one pic. It didn't trun out really good! But there really is one more sculpture) More to come......... L&D-RN Posted May 27, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted May 27, 2008 After walking through the casino, our tour guide took us through "The Dig"-Atlantis' underwater aquarium. It was pretty cool. We got to see a lot of fish and other underwater animals. Then we took a short walk outside to another aquarium. The outside of Atlantis was beautiful. It was actually the best part of Atlantis to me. I Love this picture. I think it looks like a post card! After this we walked back to the harbor where there were a couple ferry boats waiting to take people back to the boat. They left every 30 minutes in case some people wanted to stay. It was a nice ride back. Once we got back on the boat, it was formal night so we got all cleaned up and dressed. We went to the Captin's Cocktail Party. They had free drinks, the captain talked a few minutes, and we left. We went to dinner in the dinning room. After dinner we changed and walked around a little. We went to listen to some live jazz music and waited on the show to start. Once again-the show was great! My Husband and I Dad & Mom Ok-I guess I'm gonna save some for another day. Sure hope people read this!!

Rare EngIceDave Posted May 27, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 27, 2008 The "crystal" you saw at Atlantis is actually hand-blown glass art by Dale Chihuly. Each piece is valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars. He did the ceiling for the lobby of the Bellagio Las Vegas, a rumored 6 million dollar piece http://www.chihuly.com/ Great review, please keep it coming...12 days to go for me

L&D-RN Posted May 27, 2008 Author #16 Share Posted May 27, 2008 MONDAY: Monday was an out to sea day. We mainly sat by the pool, relaxed, and drank frozen drinks!!! The out to sea days aren't my favorite part of cruises, but I guess we gotta have them! We did get out kinda early so we would have a choice on where to sit. If you wait until later, it gets crowded. These couple of pictures show you just how crowded it can get. I did slide down the slide a couple of times-that was fun! I guess the "big kid" in me wanted to come out!! After hanging out by the pool in the sun all day-we needed a nap. Then we went to dinner. The show that night with Marcus Anthony was great! It was "Motown and More". This guy could sing. He was an awesome entertainer. He really got the crowd involved. Great show!

L&D-RN Posted May 27, 2008 Author #18 Share Posted May 27, 2008 TUESADY: Tuesday we were in St. Thomas. This was my favorite part of the entire cruise. This is the prettiest place I have been to so far. We did an excursion that took you sight-seeing and then dropped you off so you could shop for a couple of hours. The sight-seeing part was ok-the tour guide did not stop at as many places as I thought he would. Although the scenery was beautiful at all the places he did stop. He stopped on the side of the road (literally), at a scenic overlook, and he also took us to Mountain Top. If anyone goes to Mountain Top-try the drink they have there. It's really good; you just have to stand in line for a while to get it. After Mountain Top, he dropped us off downtown to shop. He gave us two hours and came back to pick us up to take us back to the boat.

L&D-RN Posted May 27, 2008 Author #20 Share Posted May 27, 2008 After our tour guide took us back to the boat, we hopped on the free shuttle and went to Paradise Point. Another beatuiful part of St. Thomas. It was a short cable car ride to the top with a gorgeous view waiting. The Bushwacker is delicious! Nice frozen drink after a hot ride in the cable car! Here are more pictures of St. Thomas. This is Magen's Bay-a view from Mountain Top This is "The 99 Steps"-it's actually 102 steps. As were we walking around St. Thomas we found these. It was something my FIL wanted to do. This is the famous Buschwacker! Me & my Buschwacker!!!

L&D-RN Posted May 27, 2008 Author #24 Share Posted May 27, 2008 Tuesday night when we got back on the boat-of course we ate dinner. The show that night was "Justin Illusion". Really good show. It was a mix of magic and dancing. The music was good too. Nothing else really that night!
L&D-RN Posted May 27, 2008 Author #25 Share Posted May 27, 2008 WEDNESDAY: Wednesday we were in St. Maarten. We did the Golden Eagle Catamaran. I highly recommend this excursion!! It was so much fun. We waited on the pier and took a short walk over to where the boat was docked. They made us take off our shoes and hop on. This is the actual boat-Golden Eagle The ride to the island is about 25-30 minutes long. It was longer than I expected but I enjoyed it. They have these huge nets that are open to the water in the front of the boat and as we jumped the waves the water splashed up onto us. Believe it or not-it was a smooth ride. I guess the way the boat is made, it makes it smoother going over the waves. They took us to an island-yes there were naked people walking around! In the excursion details, it does tell you it is a "clothing optional" island. I'm just not used to naked people walking around-sorry!!! When we got to the island, we snorkeled. They gave us the equipment on the ride over. We had to swim ashore and walk down the beach a little and then get in the water to snorkel. We saw a few exotic underwater fish but not too many. We stayed less than an hour, got back on the boat, and went back. They did serve rum punch and sandwhiches on the way back. The rum punch was pretty good. Wasn't expecting the sandwhiches though! In this picture, you can see the nets. There was on the left and one on the right. A view from our boat when it was at the island. Over on the other side of that boat, by the rocks is where they said was the best snorkeling.
