Cigar Bar

I understand that the Glory, Valor, Liberty & Freedom all have cigar bars. Which one has the best atmosphere/bar area? DH loved the Cigar bar on the Pride because it has a full bar and it's an open concept (or was in 2003 at least). Thanks

Of the four, we've been on Liberty and Valor (Glory's this coming February:D), and between the two we really liked Winston's on Valor. It had a very "clubby" atmosphere, with images of British warships and flags and very comfortable chairs. We didn't care for The Cabinet on Liberty as well - it just seemed rather plain. However, my all-time favorite lounge of any time on any ship we've sailed is the Ionian Lounge on Victory.

For us, though, what makes the lounge is the music. We go to hear jazz, and we've usually been rewarded with some very good jazz trios. I'm not a smoker, but DH enjoys a cigar now and then - and since I don't mind the smoke, it's a favorite of ours at night on our cruises.

Hubbys been in the cigar bars on Conquest, Valor and Destiny. He said they are very similiar with about the same assortment of cigars. He really enjoyed having a cigar and a cognac without someone making faces and comments about the cigar smoke.

I loved the Cigar Bar on the Sensation.

But on the Glory it was in a terrible spot, with a bunch of people constantly wandering through to get to the dining room and pissing and moaning the whole time about all the smoke.

I wasn't the idiot who put the cigar bar in the large bar that you have to walk through to get to the dining room.

The decor was ivory tusks and an Inidan motif to go with the Ivory Bar name.....

I'd imagine all the Conquest class ships have the cigar bar in the same location where people constantly walk through to get to the dining room.

Unlike the location in the 2nd to last lounge on the Fantasy class ships, with only people passing through to get to Karaoke in the back lounge.

(I actually enjoyed sitting in the cigar bar and watching Karaoke through the open door into the other lounge.)

I'd definitely take the Fantasy class lounge EVERY time.

They are a great place to relax and listen to music. DD & I would stop in on our way to dinner. DH and I would stop in after the show.

Sadly this is not the case on the Spirit class. The sports bar atmosphere is not the same. And if you are not there to watch sports it is really not enjoyable.

Looking at recent Capers for the Glory, it looks like the cigar bar moved from the Ivory Club to the sports bar. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2209188590102755439kxOeXi

Smoking seems to be still allowed in the Ivory Club, but not cigars.

That was true on our May 3 sailing. They have the afternoon tea in the Ivory Bar and I guess some complained about the cigar smoke smell when they went to the tea.

Looks like DH will be out on deck with his cigars - we're not fans of the sports bar.:(

Well, THAT sucks! Looks like the cigar smoking ****'s got to the Carnival bigwigs. You better belive I'll have mine on deck and the sports bar, and on my balcony! If fact, I'd love to meet any of you who love cigars. We'll be on the Glory for the September 6th sailing. :)

Hey, Cigar Dude !!!

I agree it appears we puffers are being shown a little disrespect. I'm on the Miracle in an aft wrap balcony room on June 18. Balcony big enough to accommodate all the cigar smokers I can round up. Nobody making faces at us there !! Enjoy your cruise !!

Fire Up !!!!

That is great news....

I wanted to smoke my cigars in the sports bar and was asked to leave and go to the Ivory Bar.

The sports bar is a much better venue.

I kind of agree. I enjoy watching sports when I am smoking. Now i've gotta figure out how to smuggle my ISOM's aka cubans out of the country and back in..

Too bad none of you are going to be on the Glory on April 18th. DH is a cigar smoker and would love to meet some fellow cigar buddies.

We are booked on the same cruise! We will have to make sure the guys hook up for a smoke!

we have been on the liberty and the room is great but as stated you have to exit the dining room and walk thru it to go to the internet cafe, casino, or forward lounges. and tea is served at 4pm in a room just used for cigars. oh well we are on the freedom in nov of this yr. and may of next so i hope the same lounge/jazz bar is still in use for cigars on the freedom. if not, upper decks, by the pool, and on our balcony.
