Hurricane Season has Started!!

It looks like Alma will bury itself inland and end up as a tropical depression by about 5 PM tomorrow. I guess there's some chance of it completing the trip across the Yucatan and emerging on the other side as a tropical storm but I wouldn't put money on it...

...ALMA WEAKENING BUT STILL A TROPICAL STORM AS ITS CENTER NEARS

HONDURAS...SIGNIFICANT HEAVY RAINFALL THREAT CONTINUES...

 

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE PACIFIC COAST OF

CENTRAL AMERICA FROM JACO COSTA RICA NORTHWESTWARD INCLUDING

NICARAGUA...HONDURAS AND EL SALVADOR.

SATELLITE IMAGERY AND SURFACE OBSERVATION INDICATE THAT ALMA HAS

BECOME DISORGANIZED OVER THE MOUNTAINS OF HONDURAS. THE CENTER

PASSED NEAR TEGUCIGALPA A FEW HOURS AGO WITH ONLY LIGHT WINDS

REPORTED. THE INITIAL INTENSITY IS ESTIMATED TO BE 25 KT...WITH

THESE WINDS LIKELY OCCURRING ONLY IN BANDS OF SQUALLS.

 

THE INITIAL MOTION IS NOW 345/10. BUILDING HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE

NORTHERN GULF OF MEXICO AND THE SOUTHERN UNITED STATES SHOULD CAUSE

A GRADUAL TURN TOWARD THE NORTHWEST...AND THEN TOWARD THE WEST

We'll be sailing in less than 2 days! I really hope it turns toward the Northwest!!!

 

 

The remains of Alma are continuing to move North - Northwest at about 10 mph. The only threat is rainfall. I'd expect that by the time you reach the area on Tuesday or Wednesday the system will be long gone...

Thanks My friend for keeping us updated, Me and Dw are going in September and Im hoping it will be clear but thats the start of Hurricane season, Ill be keeping a eye out here and on the tropical weather updates!!;)

Hey Mach Ive heard that theres another Tropical depression forming in the Caribbean, have you heard anything, I think Ill go the the Hurricane center to check it out!!;)

 

Just going to mean a bunch of rain in its path. Nothing to get excited about.
