Mause Posted May 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2008 Has anybody taken this excursion? I'll be in Rangiroa this fall and am thinking of taking this excursion. Have my own equipment and am taking swimming / snorkeling lessons. Should be an average swimmer when I get there. I have heard several negative reports about this excursion, which may be unfounded, such as; Don't do this unless you are a strong swimmer. Too deep to see a lot of fish. (Main reason I snorkel) Strong currents can smack you into coral, etc. I like to relax when I snorkel. Any input will be appreciated.
ddgg Posted August 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2010 I would also like an answer to the OP's question. We will be there in a couple of months. We have our own masks & snorkels, but not fins. Is it possible to rent fins from the ship to use for the 10 day cruise? (We may go snorkeling on our own at various places.) Thanks

Pirate062453 Posted October 20, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Sorry, can't tell you about the "tours" in Tiputa Pass, but I've snorkeled the pass on my own. Great visability and lots of sharks. You need to stay near the sides of the pass and preferably go during slack tide or when the tide in coming in to the lagoon. During slack tide the current is minimal. Have fun!
