After Hours Vatican Tour

Recommended Posts

We chose to not pay the 350 euros for the night tour. That was the price quoted for the night we could go. I also was quoted 3,500 euro for only our folks, no one else.

In retrospect, we probably should have done so. We shuffled along for 2.5 hours with everyone else on a Wednesday. The night tour was supposed to be no more than 30. In the overall context of the whole vacation another 800 dollars is pretty small, but still expensive.

It is really not quite what they say though. Sure enough you are in a small group, but they leave every thirty minutes or so. Therefore in most rooms you should be pretty much alone with your group. I would think that with enough knowledge of what you will be seeing, the wonders of the museum could be much better appreciated.

We did choose to buy VIP tickets for the papal audience and did shake His hand.

There are some posts on Tripadvisor that might be of interest. Here's a link to one thread...if you do a search (in the Rome Forum search section), other threads will show up: http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187791-i22-k1962533-l12071401-After_Hours_Private_Vatican_Sistine_Chapel_Tour-Rome_Lazio.html#12071401

MIKE073....we are going on a TA OCT 09 and the day we're in rome is Sunday.....everything is closed. I want to go and spend a couple days in Rome before and have seen the VIP tour on Wednesday advertised but I had no idea you could shake his hand? Thought we would just be in a crowd outside and see him. Tell me more.
