Beach and Shopping

Can anyone tell me if there is public beac or shopping near the ships in Belize, or do you have to take a taxi? or a shore excursion? Any help will be greatly appreciated.... Or can anyone recommend a decent tour company that we can use for snorkeling... We had one booked in Grand Cayman but now we arent going there so we dont know what to do!

We went to Belize last year...did not do a tour....big mistake, there are only a small collection of shops at the port. We did not venture out of the tourist area because it did not look very safe. We also had a tour planned for GC but now we are looking at coralbreezelimited.com and belizecruiseexcursions.com to book a tour in Belize. Hope that helps.... :)
