Explorer of the Seas 12/12/08 from NJ Weather??? seas??

Recommended Posts

Hi

My husband and I just got back from a 7 night carnival cruise out of Miami. Loved it! had fun!

WE live in NYC and are thinking of trying RCL Explorer of the SEas out of Bayonne NJ December 12th. It would be so great to not have to deal with the airports and flying.

Obviously I know it will be cold leaving Jersey in December but..... are the seas usually rough at that time of year? Caribbean weather decent at that time? Cruise goes to St Thomas, San Juan, Labadee.

If anyone has cruised at that time of year Id love to hear about it!!

Thanks

Jackie

We hit a bad storm on the 12/2/07 12 night southern on 12/3, then weather was fine, weather was beautiful on all the islands, hit another trop. storm sailing out of San Juan and then the weather was fine again until we came home. I've hit storms in June, Sept, and Oct/Nov. so it just depends on the weather at the time of your cruise more then anything:) No matter what the weather we've enjoyed all our cruises on the Explorer and we never worry about the weather:) The ship and the ports are beautiful that time of year also with all the holiday decorations and we are looking forward to our next 12 night 11/30:D

We sailed with Suzanne on 12/2 and will be again this year on 11/30. We have also left out of NY on 12/6 on the Dawn a few years ago. I think the best thing to do is to keep some Bonine in your system and expect some movement. It can be smooth sailing or rough it all depends. Take the cruise and enjoy yourself. Being in the carribbean in December is the best.

The Explorer handles the seas very well. There are never any guarantees as to weather or sea conditions. Coming back from Bermuda a couple of weeks ago, we were in a force 9 gale and 20+ foot seas. The Explorer handled it like a champ!

Thanks for the info. We actually ended up booking for 11/21/08. It will be nice to be away for turkey day!!

Expect a full ship with LOTS of children. Not my idea of a relaxing vacation.
