reddogranch Posted June 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2008 I will be in Warnermunde on the Crown Princess from 0800 hours until 2200 hours on Monday, July 7. I was planning on taking a train out of Warnermunde with one connection and arriving into Berlin HBF at 13:15 hours and wishing to take the non-stop ICE back from Berlin at 18:12 hours returning to Warnermunde at 20:41 hours. Is this possible and what can I expect to pay roundtrip per person on a weekday? Thank you very much. Bob

If yes age of the children? Somehow I feel sorry for you and the same cruisers on NORWEGIAN JEWEL... (same time of arrival and departure) How about driving yourself from Warnemünde to Airport Tegel in Berlin (only highway - no city streets - extremely well signed): You could be there by 11.30 hrs and so you'll have two hours more! Just loud thinking. I'll calculate the best price for you once you tell me how many persons. Regards, HeinBloed

Rare HeinBloed Posted June 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2008 2 passengers for sure. If another cuple decides to join us it will be 4. Let's see if HeinBloed can beat Deutsche Bahn Your connection: 10.07-13.15 incl. 1 transfer in Rostock 18.12-20.44 direct ICE high speed train --- Full Flexible Fare according to website Deutsche Bahn --- 1 person: 80.80 EUR 2 persons: 161.80 EUR 4 persons: 323.20 EUR --- HeinBloed's solution for 2 persons / still full flexible --- 1 Länderticket Mecklenburg-Vorpommern = 25.00 EUR* 1 Länderticket Brandenburg-Berlin = 26.00 EUR* 2 full fare tickets ICE Berlin - Warnemünde = 94.00 EUR ----------------------------------------------------- totally 145.00 EUR = 72.50 EUR pp saving against DB 16.80 EUR * You need to buy at ticket-machine / not at the counter No start before 9.00 am --- HeinBloed's solution for 4 persons / still full flexible --- 1 Länderticket Mecklenburg-Vorpommern = 25.00 EUR* 1 Länderticket Brandenburg-Berlin = 26.00 EUR* 4 full fare tickets ICE Berlin - Warnemünde = 188.00 EUR ------------------------------------------------------ totally 239.00 EUR = 59.25 EUR pp saving against DB 94.20 EUR --- HeinBloed's super solution if you buy today --- Availability of 4 tickets checked. But tickets for ICE are not refundable and no changes allowed. First come first serve - limited availabilty of Super Saver Discounted Tickets 1 Länderticket Mecklenburg-Vorpommern = 25.00 EUR* 1 Länderticket Brandenburg-Berlin = 26.00 EUR* 4 Super Saver Discounted Tickets ICE Berlin - Warnemünde = 116.00 EUR ---------------------------------------------------------------------- totally 167.00 EUR = 41.75 EUR pp saving against DB 156.80 EUR The savings for 2 with Super Saver is somewhere in between... So if I would you be: I would book asap (!!!) the 2 tickets which are for sure that you are going on http://www.bahn.de. You must use the same credit card for purchase and for identification with the conductor!!! Call your friends if they are with you to book additionally 2 Super Saver Tickets for ICE Berlin-Warnemünde. Buy Ländertickets at machine. Each is valid for 5 persons!!! Hope that this is clear for you what to do!!! Regards, HeinBloed
reddogranch Posted June 5, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted June 5, 2008 Herr Heinbloed, So if I understand correctly, you must buy Landertickets from machine in train station after 9:00 hours and I must buy ICE ticket at website now. Is this correct? Thank you very much. Bob
Rare HeinBloed Posted June 6, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Absolutely Mr Red Dog Ranch!!!! Do not buy one ticket Warnemünde - Berlin - Warnemünde!!! Buy just asap Berlin - Warnemünde on internet!!! You can buy Ländertickets at any time at the ticket machine. But you'll be ask for which date (in theory it could be also the December 31 2999) BUT once you decide for a date like July 7, 2008 their validity starts at 09.00 hrs. Guess due to wind, streams etc. your ship will arrive very early and you are let's say 8.15 ashore to make following connection: dep 08.37 S1-commuter train from Warnemünde (Platform 2) arr 08.58 at Rostock Hbf (Central Station - Platform 1) dep 09.04 RE 33006 from Rostock Hbf (Platform 6) arr 10.01 arr Schwerin Hbf (Platform 3) dep 10.18 RE 38211 from Schwerin Hbf (Platform 4a) arr 12.36 arr Berlin Hbf You can already buy Ländertickets at the machine as they became valid once you start after 9.00 am in your second train but you'll need to have a single ticket pp for the section from Warnemünde to Rostock Hbf because you are before 9.00 am. All clear now??? You can buy Ländertickets as well online. But this section is only in German and you'll get it mailed. Nonsense - as there is unlimited availability. Regards, Sir Hein (please....) Rare HeinBloed Posted June 6, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 6, 2008 N. B. It's nothing illegal!!! If you buy full fare flexible return tickets and have one section of long distance trains like ICE you'll be charged the standard fare. What we are doing: Warnemünde - Berlin - Warnemünde is splitted up into Warnemünde - Waren (Müritz) - Berlin - Warnemünde i. e. Länderticket Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - Länderticket Brandenburg-Berlin - ICE Super Saver Discounted Long Distance Ticket That's how the difference of the prices are coming from. If you start before 9 am: Warnemünde - Rostock - Waren (Müritz) - Berlin - Warnemünde Single Local Ticket - Länderticket MV - Länderticket BB - ICE-Ticket exactly same trains - same connections Just legal tricks to save money by using the different local and restricted special tickets of Deutsche Bahn. Why paying full flexibility if you do not need??? Regards, HeinBloed
reddogranch Posted June 7, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted June 7, 2008 HeinBloed, On the return from Berlin, if there are 2 of us I pay 94 Euros for ICE (per person cost 47 Euro) and if there are 4 of us I pay 116 Euros for ICE (per person cost 29 Euro) Why is this different? Thank you. Bob
Rare HeinBloed Posted June 7, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 7, 2008 Just checked for you some minutes ago: Lower line: 94.00 EUR standard full flexible available Center line: 58.00 EUR super saver discounted ticket available Try it again... Murphy... Regards, HeinBloed
reddogranch Posted June 11, 2008 Author #10 Share Posted June 11, 2008 HeinBloed, I went to http://www.bahn.de. to buy 4 super save tickets from Berlin to Warnemunde, but I was not able to see where you buy super saver tickets. I saw where they advertise Saving Fare 25 and 50, but this requires a roundtrip ticket, and I only want a one way ICE ticket from Berlin to Warnemunde as I will purchase Landertickets for Warnemunde to Berlin. How do you buy 4 ICE tickets Berline to Warnermunde? Thank you once again. Bob

How do you buy 4 ICE tickets Berline to Warnermunde? Thank you once again. Bob Let's go to http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en - and let me guide you: You enter "..." From Station/Stop "Berlin Hbf" To Station/Stop "Warnemünde" Outward journey Date "07.07.2008" Time "18:00" Return journey KEEP BLANK!!! (that's your mistake - that's why Sparpreis 25/50 appears...) Click "Add travellers" === Ignore warning regarding multiple entry for Warnemünde Select "1 adult" x 3 until totally 4 adults appear in the bottom Click "Search Connection" === The first connection at 18.12 hrs is yours. Column saving fares from 116.00 EUR - Click on "Check availability". === Now everthing should be clear. Do not buy the Länderticket in the internet. They'll send you the ticket home. Just buy it at the machine!!! Good Luck!!! HeinBloed
