Weather in mid September

What can we expect for weather on the Vision MR cruise beginning 9/14/08 out of LA? Will the first and last days be too chilly for shorts and swimming? How hot will it be in the ports? We will be in SF for a few days prior to the cruise and I know there is a big difference between LA & SF weather so we'll need to pack accordingly and with the airlines new regs, I'll be squeezing more into that one big case while keeping it under 50 lbs!

September is typically our hottest month here in Los Angeles. You should be fine with shorts, and yes, you should be able to swim.

For San Fran, you should have long pants and a sweater or light jacket.

Thanks, that's what I thought but wasn't sure. I know from previous experience that SF can be chilly.... we were at a Giants game two years ago just about the same time of year and needed gloves and a heavy sweatshirt for the evening game. This year we'll be prepared!
