time to visit two places?

Are you planning on two excursions, or doing it yourself (i.e. cab, car)?

We rented a car on Roatan and were able to drive pretty much the entire island. I remember driving past the cameo factory (it's not too far from the pier), but we didn't stop (and the parking there looks nonexistent). We really wanted to see Gumbalimba Park; however, they wouldn't let us in, because we weren't part of the ship's excursion! Apparently, on days there's a ship in port, the only way to visit is to book through the cruise line (which we didn't know 'til we got there)! So keep that in mind.

We really liked having our own car. I think we paid $100 (cash only), from Best Car Rentals (right at the pier). Lots more flexibility, and a lot of fun stopping at road side stands, discovering out of the way restaurants, etc.

We loved Roatan...so much so that we're looking into buying property there (while it's still affordable)!
