sl0905 Posted October 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2004 Does anyone know if the superior oceanview cabins on Sovereign deck nine have any obstructed view due to the life boats below. I'm trying to decide if we should get a superior on deck nine, or a regular outside on deck 5 or 6. It looks as though the windows are the same size on most cabins and we may actually see the water better on 5 or 6. Besides the additional space on the superior, what other reason would there be to book a superior cabin? Thanks for any info.
aqusis Posted October 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2004 Views on deck 9 are unobstructed with the exception of a few forward cabins that are obstructed by a staircase. You can see water but just not straight down, you'll see lifeboats if you look straight down. The extra space is WONDERFUL since SOS cabins are smaller than average. Your bathroom is also larger and you'll have a tub. While I didn't think the tub was big enough to enjoy a bath, it does make the shower bigger and is handy if you have kids. You'll also have a safe on Deck 9 which the lower decks don't have (unless they've already added as a headstart to next month's renovations). Deck 9 is also very convenient to Deck 11 (pool, Windjammer).
karen_g Posted October 12, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2004 I have a question about the bathtub in these cabins. If you're standing up taking a shower in the bathtub, is there a grab bar or anything in case it gets a bit rocky? Travelling with my elderly Mom and wondering if getting a cabin with just a shower would be better?

pamelajean62 Posted October 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2004 We have stayed on both deck 9 and deck 6 (outside rooms both times). Personally I do not think the extra space on deck 9 is worth the extra $$. The windows in both rooms allowed you to look out and get light in, but they are not really designed for "viewing" -- it is not like having a verandah you can sit on and watch the ocean go by. Deck 6 (or 5) is very conveinent to alot of places too (shops, casino, pursers deck, dining rooms, promonade deck). I would recommend deck 5 -- deck 6 is right under the promonade. We love the Sovereign! Pam :)
shelbylook Posted October 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2004 We had cabin #9548, mid ship. I was pretty disappointed w/the view (or lack thereof). If we looked straight out our window it was okay, but the lifeboats were right below our windows so seeing the water below was out of the question. If I had to do it over again (on the Sovereign), I'd go lower so I could see the water directly out my window rather than having to overlook the lifeboats. Regardless of our view, we still had a marvelous time. Not being able to see directly down from our cabin window was insignificant, really. We're taking no chances this time on our view.... we have a center hump cabin! :D Cathy
