Lechon?

My boyfriend and I saw this on TV, the whole roasted pig, and we want to try it! It looks pretty local, so if anybody has any info on how or where we could go eat lechon, it would be greatly appreciated. We are staying at the Marriott Stellaris and we are not yet sure if we will be renting a car. Thank you!

You really need a car to get to Guavate, no practical way to do it otherwise. I know the lechoneras are open on weekdays, because my parents often go for lunch during the week. Weekends are more crowded, of course.

If you can't make it to Guavate, an alternative could be to have pernil (roast fresh ham) at a local restaurant. It's not the same, of course, but the seasonings are similar and at least it's pork :) .
