travelforlife Posted June 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2008 Hello Everyone, We will be setting sail on the Rhapsody on July 4th. Does anyone know if they normally have special celebrations for this date?
RicardoC Posted June 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2008 I don't know about that but I'll be sailing on Brilliance of the Seas out of Barcelona on the 4th of July:D  ;)
Cruise-Nut Posted June 15, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2008 Just a parade, Disney is the only Cruise Line licensed to shoot off fireworks.
RicardoC Posted June 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Just a parade, Disney is the only Cruise Line licensed to shoot off fireworks. I know that...but maybe they can make some celebration.... I really like the idea of Fireworks...more cruise lines should start with that:D
maxs mom Posted June 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2008 We've cruised over the 4th many, many times and will again this year. There is not much celebration at all. Certainly no fireworks. They may have an American theme in the dining room that night and will sing Yankee Doodle Dandy, but that's about it. Sorry.
Lynn the Cruiser Posted June 16, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2008 I was wondering that myself because I will be on the Liberty. Obviously I know it's an American holiday, but it will seem weird not doing anything.
maxs mom Posted June 16, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 16, 2008 I guess we've just been on so many 4th of July sailings that we're just used to it. We will be in St. Maarten on the 4th this year. And also in St. Maarten on Christmas Day this year.
mohavemommy Posted June 16, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2008 I get off the ship on the 4th... will I get Red, White and Blue scrambeled eggs for breakfast? LOL :D
Foffie232 Posted June 16, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 16, 2008 We cruised Monarch in 2006 over the 4th and they had the Centrum decorated and lots of USA and American "stuff" around - food items (they had a Statue of Liberty made out of white chocolate), and decorations all over the place. LOTS of balloons. We were in San Diego that day so I thought we would be able to get some kind of fireworks from the port, but we were long gone by the time the sun went down. Oh well. :)
FlyingPhotog Posted June 16, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 16, 2008 I get off the ship on the 4th... will I get Red, White and Blue scrambeled eggs for breakfast? LOL :D Pancakes with strawberries, whipped cream & blueberries! :D

KelJ Posted June 16, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 16, 2008 We will be in New London, CT, this July 4th. We're hoping to see some fireworks on land from the ship that night.
RicardoC Posted June 16, 2008 #13 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Maybe you all that will be on Sovereign, Liberty, etc. will see something red, white and blue but I don't think I will since I'll be in Barcelona and Brilliance is from RCCL UK and not RCCL US. CRUIZINMOMMANJ Posted June 16, 2008 #14 Share Posted June 16, 2008 On the Explorer last year they made quiet a big deal out of it...it was great. Blinking glasses, special dessert, and a pool party with a patriotic flare.
floridacruiser63 Posted June 16, 2008 #15 Share Posted June 16, 2008 We will be sailing on the Majesty of the Seas on the 4th of July and was wondering the same. Thanks for asking the question and thanks for the many answers.

London Bridge Posted June 17, 2008 #18 Share Posted June 17, 2008 We live in New London CT. You may be able to see some over the Thames River. Enjoy. We will be in the Caribbean on Freedom. When the Explorer first came to New London last year it was a major media event. People were awestruck on the docks and we were laughing because we had sailed on the Explorer before to the Western Caribbean. Enjoy.
springtxbill Posted June 17, 2008 #19 Share Posted June 17, 2008 I doubt there will be many fireworks over the Thames. They lost that war.:)
RicardoC Posted June 17, 2008 #20 Share Posted June 17, 2008 I'm not American either...I'm Brazilian but for the past few years I've been here on July 4th and now I live here and I like the way you celebrate it...by the end of the afternoon all the fireworks(including the 3 Disney Parks ones:D )....it's a very good celebration. So let's celebrate 4th of July 2008 on Brilliance of the Seas Barcelona!!! :D ;) :)
