Rome on Sunday?

Recommended Posts

3 years ago we were also in Rome on a Sunday and I was very concerned, but it was fine. You cannot see the Sistine Chapel, but St. Peters was open as was everything else we wanted to do. It was very uncrowded, which is an upside to Sunday.

The Vatican Museums are open on the last Sunday of the month; however, they are also free which means they are even more jammed then normal. But sometimes the last Sunday is a holiday and then the museums are closed (such is the case 2 weeks from now, when the Vatican is closed for the feast of Ss. Peter and Paul on 6/28 and 6/29). You can check opening times on the Vatican website, http://www.vatican.va. Click on museums and then the info tab.
