Do connecting balconies open?

Hi! I am on the 16th July crossing on QM2 with some friends, we have 2 deck 8 cabins that adjoin. Do the balconies open up so that we can have one large balcony between us?

Yes, there are doors between the balconies, but the openings are only about one third the width of the balcony. Here is a photo of some Deck 9 and Deck 10 balconies.

A special key is required to open the doors between balconies. Your steward can arrange for the maintenance guys to open the door for you.

Thanks for the advice! I guess that also means it can be closed if we fall out with our friends!!
