Ship Noon - 9PM, Monday -- With kids, Orient & Maho?

We don't get in till noon so we most likely won't be able to get to Orient beach until 1:30 ish.

We'd like to go to Pirates Cove on Orient Beach for a few hours -- do some drinking, eating, swimming (covering the kiddies eyes), maybe Parasailing.

Then take a taxi to Sunset Beach Bar at Maho Beach. Hopefully we will see a few planes arrive and catch the sunset as well! Perhaps dinner here as well.

No rush to get back to the ship -- although the kids (ages 6-13) will be bored.

For those of you who've been here -- does this seem like a reasonable plan?

If you want to see the big planes come in- go straight to Maho as most of the flights are in the early afternoon. It's a good distance between the 2 beaches and there aren't alot of taxi drivers at Maho, so I would find a driver that will come back for you and take you to Orient. There are plenty of taxi's at Orient so you won't have a problem catching one back to the ship when you are ready

So far your plan sounds perfect. For plane spotting the big jets arrive mid-to late-afternoon IF it's Daylight Savings Time on the east coast. If the time has turned to Standard Time, then the big jets action is late in the afternoon.

If you leave Orient by 3:30p you will be fine with Maho. Dinner at Sunset Beach Bar is a good choice!

If you go to Maho first there will be little or no big jet activity, then by the time you get to Orient, the beach bars will be closing for the day. That occurs about 5:00pm.

  • 2 weeks later...

We did Orient ONLY.

Adding Maho was doable, but it would've been rushed. It would've been hard to break the kids (big and small) away from the great time being had in the surf at Orient beach (and it was raining off and on -- imagine if it was a really nice day!!)

We will hit Maho next time.
