Stingray Snorkel and Beach Break in Nassau

Recommended Posts

My DD and I are thinking about doing the Stingray Snorkel and Beach Break in Nassau on our cruise at the end of this month.

For those who have taken this excursion, I would appreciate your thoughts, pros and cons of this tour, and if you thought the price was worth the tour. I need your feedback!

Thanks in advance for any info!!!

I took my son and daughter (11 & 12) on this trip in August,2002. They thought it was awesome! I had done the Grand Cayman stingray excursion and thought that it was much better than the Nassau one. In Nassau, the stingrays are penned in (as opposed to swimming free as in GC). They lined everyone up in the shallow end to feed the stingrays, which was pretty cool.

I thought it was worth the money. It was neat to touch them. We were with another couple who had a 6 year old. He was afraid of them, though. When we were there, there wasn't a place to stand. You walked off the dock onto some steps and then swim....if there are any in your party that can't swim, this may be a consideration. IMO is is worth the money just to get over to Blue Lagoon Island. That place is beautiful. The lagoon itself is very shallow, crystal clear and is as warm as bath water. You can walk over to the dolphin encounter area, you can't get real close, but close enough to see the dolphins jumping. The other side of the island, you can take a trail to the other side, has huge rocks and waves and is great for taking pictures. I would go for it! How many time in your life will you have the opportunity?

There are pictures of Blue Lagoon Island on www.dolphinencounters.com (click on gallery, then Blue Lagoon Island) you should check it out to see what you are in for.

Have a great cruise!
