Jade's Fire Posted June 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2008 Has anyone been to La Mer in Honolulu? Yea, nay, recommendations, faves, anything would be appreciated.:)
Rare Caroldoll Posted June 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2008 We just stayed at the Halekulani and passed on going to La Mer because you had to have a long sleeve shirt or a jacket. We went to Orchids. I must say the food at the Halekulani is wonderful and if you don't mind dressing up--then La Mer is supposed to be terrific. If you want to go in long pants and an Aloha shirt--Orchids right down under it is fantastic as well.

I assume you mean for the men;) What dress would ladies require?
Spikesgirl Posted June 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2008 Yes, we have dined at Le Mer and it was spectacular. We are foodies and have dined at some extremely nice facilities around the world and Le Mer rates at the top of the list for us. Ladies can wear just about anything dressy, pants, dress, no shorts, of course. Guys do need to be in a suit jacket and tie, but it's well worth the effort. Don't go if you have plans for later in the evening, because the service is very leisurly and unhurried. For us that was nearly three hours, but that was expected. We had a pre-set seven course with wine and left not feeling stuffed or drunk - the sign of excellent portion control. It is a good choice for a special evening or event, but do be aware that it is pricey and leisurely.
