Santorini Festival/Holiday question

Recommended Posts

I'll be on OV in Greek islands at the end of October and will be in Santorini on 28th October and have been planning and reading guide books and the truly amazing threads on here etc.

According to a coupe of guide books there is a holiday/festival on the day we are due to be there. Does this mean that everything will be closed? Cable car? Shops? Restaurants etc?

Any help would be great. Thanks

PS will need tissues to dry my eyes if it IS closed :(

I see that October 28th is Oxi day....a military/historical holiday....not a religious one, which, I suspect, could cause problems. Sorry, I don't know the definitive answer your question, but I would think that if it were a holiday, and one or more cruise shios were in port, that anything, and anybody, that made money from the tourist trade would be up and running....especially the cable car. If not, I could see the merchants, and the car rental guys, the tour guys, the restaurant and bar guys almost banding together to pull the cable cars up themselves!
