KK11 Posted June 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2008 This is what is on the Holland America website for cancellation of shore excursion: so what happens if the weather is bad and the excursion is cancelled by the Cruise ship - what is the cancellation fees mentioned o their website In the case of online cancellations made by you (which cannot be made during the 5-day period prior to cruise departure) or cancellations made by us more than 5 days prior to cruise departure, we will issue a credit on the credit card that you used to pay for the booking. For all other cancellations (whether by you, Holland America Line or the shore excursion operator), a credit will not be issued on your card. Instead, we will apply an ONBOARD CREDIT ONLY policy under which the refund (less any cancellation fee) will show up as a credit on the shipboard account of the person who was to take the shore excursion

DAGVBSB Posted June 21, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Is HAL that strict? NCL and RCCL do not impose cancellation fees as long as you cancel 24 hours before the arrival in port. Since NCL does not charge you for any Shore Excursions until you are on the cruise (whether you make the reservation on line ahead of time or not), you don't have to worry about credit card refunds. NCL simply adds the shore excursion charges to your on board account during the cruise. Granted, there are a few select shore excursions (like Dog Sledding and some helicopter tours) that are marked... "no refund if cancelled," most NCL shore excursions can be cancelled without hassle. lady_cruiser Posted June 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Norwegian Cruise does the same - no cancellation on tours cancelled outside of the deadline given. We had to cancel a ship sponsored tour on the morning we were to go on it and we were told there was no refund. It just one of those things that happens so we just make the best of it. DesertDogs Posted June 21, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2008 We had two tours cancelled by weather and late port arrival. HAL refunded the entire amount to our shipboard account. There was no cancellation fee imposed.
