Formal Evenings

In the middle of packing and I was wondering how formal are formal evenings on Princess (Diamond Princess) in Alaska. Are suits expected or are slacks and jacket acceptable?? Off tomorrow so any last minute guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

Princess publishes formal night guidelines in their 2008 Cruise Answer Book pages 7 and 10. They are GUIDELINES

and SUGGEST alternatives if you decide to dress casual.

People generally follow the guidelines, but there will always be some

who don't. I guess it depends on how casual you look and on the

Matri'D that evening. I've saw mostly men in ties/jackets/suits, but saw some in sweatshirts/polo shirts/khaki pants.

You will find a greater number of passengers following the formal dress policy on an Alaskan cruise than on a Caribbean cruise. Also there is generally a higher percentage following the policy on a Princess cruise than several of the other cruise lines.
