Calypso88 Posted June 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2008 We are having a reception back home a few weeks after our cruise wedding. For those of you who have also done this, how did you word your invitations? Thanks!:)
ShedQueen77 Posted June 23, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2008 We did ours as follows (not exactly verbatim.....it's been awhile! ;)) Lora and Ted will join hearts in marriage on January 2, 2008 on the beaches of Foul Bay, Barbados. Please join us in celebration of our marriage at a dinner and dance reception on January 19th...etc... This way we covered inviting everyone to attend the wedding itself (we had done so by word of mouth as well months before....no one was interested). monlyba Posted June 24, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2008 our cruise and ceremony are in early Dec and all our friends and family have known about it for a long time now, so I'm viewing our mail-out invites as pretty much just an invitation to the at-home reception which will be in early Jan. we haven't had them made yet but Ive been playing around with wording and so far I am thinking this one (my parents are paying for most of the reception). my parents' names invite you to (or request the honor of your presence at) a celebration of marriage in honor of their daughter (might use invite so we don't say honor twice) my name & his name date time location
SomeWoman Posted June 25, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 25, 2008 It sounds really simple, but I spent a lot of time obsessing over how to word it. The invites will have to be mailed out before our cruise, so I didn't want to mention the ceremony because at that point it would be an event held in the future to which they are not invited. I also wanted to make it as clear as possible that there will not be a ceremony, just a reception. While I don't think anybody will be confused, I didn't want to take any chances. [bride] and invite you to join them for dinnerin a celebration of their marriage at[Location][Address] on[Date]at[Time] [Groom]
