Punta Sur dune buggy and snorkel with Carnival

We are considering this excursion on our cruise next month on Triumph versus a day at Playa Uvas with kayaking or snorkeling. Has anyone done this excursion with Carnival and what was your impression?

Can this tour be booked outside of the cruise line?

What is the taxi fare to Punta Sur compared to Playa Uvas or Paradise Beach?

I have not done this excursion, but did go to Punta Sur. You can go there yourself. Rent a car and drive south. The entrance fee (Feb 08) was $10pp for the areas including the lighthouse and museum. It also includes transport to the snorkeling/beach area - which is beautiful and not crowded. It also includes a boat tour of the fresh water lagoon.

They rent snorkeling equipment at the beach for a small fee. There are chairs, umbrellas and small "snack shop". There is no fee for snorkeling so you could bring your own equipment.

Hope this helps.
