Parents with teens Alaska 7/25

Recommended Posts

Just signed up for meet & mingle. This is our first cruise. Most of the specials I see for teens are not on the Rhapsody of the Seas. Please tell me we didn't pick the wrong ship. Looking for teens for our son to hang with on the ship.

Hi Sue L.

it really doesn't tell us much besides there's a pool and rock climbing wall. some kind of teen group games. Teen disco? but I haven't found as many extras like the wave pool some ships actually have skate boarding ramps. But I didn't decide on the ship the rest of my family did so I said we would join them. I hope the teens have as much fun as the adults (WE) do. I believe all the video games cost extra. I really don't want my son to play videos while on the cruise some goes for My Space on the computer. he could do that at home. LOL

Please give my hope and info. if you've been on this ship

All the ships have plenty of activities for teens. You don't say what age he is but if under 17 have him attend the Adventure Ocean meeting the first day (will be listed in the compass) and he will meet plenty of kids his age. I took my two 19 and 21 last year and they had a blast. I would definitely advise that you let him have input in the shore excursions you do. We did the helicopter glacier landing and it was amazing. I cruised with my family quite a bit when I was a teen, and Sue L is right, the most important thing to do is go to the Adventure Ocean meeting the first night (different times for the different age groups).

Get a group of new friends together, and everythng is fun. I remember having french fry eating contests, pool(billiards) tournaments, hanging out in the hot tub, and just having a total blast with the kids I met - not to mention, some of the organized activities like scavenger hunts, etc. were also a lot of fun.

The bells & whistles on the mega ships are impressive, but to have a good time as a teen it really is all about the other teens you meet and the bonds you establish in only a few short days. 10 years later, I am still in touch with a few of the kids I met on my first cruise at 14 years old. :)
