Lunch first day on Pacific Sun?

Hi all

We are a month off our cruise, departing from Auckland on the Pacific Sun. The boat leaves at 4pm, but I was wondering whether lunch would be available on the day of embarkation? Just want to know whether we need to eat first or not (planning to embark at about 1pm).

hi ruby, you normally embark around 11.30 to 12 noon and lunch is served about 12.30

Hi Ruby,

As rkmw has already said, yes, lunch is available. On embarkation day it is only in the buffet area, not in the dining room. From the next day, lunch starts at 11.30, but on embarkation day I think it starts at noon and continues until at least 3pm. The buffet has several hot and also cold dishes. A separate section has more snack type food. Dessert is small cakes. Tea and coffee are also available.

Enjoy your cruise.:):):)

Hi RubyYes, lunch is served in the buffet. Not a full lunch, seems to be that burgers and chips are the main items offered. My advise to anyone going on the Sun, try the restaurant first, you can usually get in without queues.Steve

Ship turnaround is an insane amount of work and some of the kitchen staff are probably busy on cleaning and stock duties that day. As only some passengers even know lunch is available they probably allow for this and do smaller quantities and less choices...

enjoy your trip !

the line on the first day for a buffet lunch is ridiculous, id probably save yourself the wait and eat something b4 you board and then u can always have something at the buffet aswell.

The length of the queue depends on what time you go to the buffet. We have usually boarded early, and then went to the buffet shortly after noon when it opened. On our last cruise we flew to Sydney and did not board until close to 2pm. Once again, when we went to the buffet there was virtually no-one there. It is the same once the cruise is under way. If you go at the most popular time, there will be a queue.:)
