tinker Posted June 25, 2005 #126 Share Posted June 25, 2005 I agree with ImaGolfNut that the times do not make much sense. The 8 night itinerary to Bermuda which was our best vacation to date was PERFECT! It is a heck of a lot better than the 5 night itinerary though so I guess RC to listen to all our whining! CruisFran Posted June 25, 2005 #127 Share Posted June 25, 2005 The late arrival time may be due to the fact that it takes approx. 6-7 hours to navigate down the Delaware from Philly (not on the coast) to the ocean. They have added St. George, originally it was posted with the entire stay in Hamilton. The 8 nighter Empress WAS the very best Bermuda cruise...and we're cruised there 14 times! cruisingsaw Posted June 25, 2005 #128 Share Posted June 25, 2005 I sailed on the then Nordic Empress 3 years in a row to Bermuda. I think Bermuda is the best port. Please bring back the RCCL 7 or 8 night Bermuda cruises. I've been on the Zenith. It's ok, but it has no balconies and it is the Empress.
sueinphilly Posted June 25, 2005 #129 Share Posted June 25, 2005 I'm not buying the "it takes that long to navigate the Delaware" theory. We sailed on the Horizon to Bermuda from the Port of Philly last summer. We got to St George by 12noon and we left Hamilton at 1:30pm. Now I have no idea about the max speeds of the Horizon or Empress, so I can't comment on whether that is a factor in the arrival and departure times. I think they might want people on board spending money in the casino and bars and shops is a better theory, just my humble opinion. For a 7 night cruise 2 1/2 days in Bermuda isn't enough. There isn't much nightlife in Bermuda that I'm interested in partaking. Although the street fair in Hamilton on Wednesday was fun, but it was over by 8:30pm. You can't shop or go to the beach at night.
madelinerose Posted June 25, 2005 #130 Share Posted June 25, 2005 Like others, a balcony is a must for us. For these prices on a 16 year old ship, I'd rather do USA 3000 and spend a week at The Reefs or Pompano! ;)
Host Kewlguy Posted June 25, 2005 #131 Share Posted June 25, 2005 Sometimes if enough people complain RCC is willing to alter the departure/arrival times. This was the case with the Voyager of the Seas. It originally was leaving for Bermuda at 10 pm from Bayonne. Obviously enough people complained and now it leaves at 5 pm. Zenith departs Bermuda at 3 pm giving us enough time to go to the beach in the morning.
