BamaCruiser20 Posted June 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2008 My friend and I are sailing in October with his mother and aunt for their 70th birthdays. We are both past guest and are taking advantage of the current past guest promo of a two catagory upgrade. We would like to have the ladies upgraded with us; however, neither of them are past guests. It was suggested to me that my friend and I book in seperate cabins in order to have two cabins with the upgrade. My question is, if we do this, what will we have to do to switch cabins once we get to the ship? Would we do the cabin change at the terminal before boarding or at the Purser's desk afterwards? If anyone has done this, how much of a hassel is it to make the switch? We are sailing on the Fantasy. As of now, the Fantasy still uses the room key seperate from the sign and sail card. This would make it extremely easy to switch cabin mates. However, I have read that after the Evolutions of Fun upgrade (which the Fantasy is getting in September) that will no longer be the case. Anyone who has sailed on one of the other ships that has had the upgrade, is this correct?
p2lockhart Posted June 30, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2008 We had several couples of different ages (some senior discount eligible), some past passengers, some military, etc and we told the TA when we booked. When we booked, all of the couples were mixed up in order to maximize the discounts. We had no problem when we got to the cruise terminal, they just put us in the cabins with our spouses. We did not have to go to the purser's desk.
buddyjo143 Posted July 1, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2008 We went to the Purser's desk when we boarded the Glory to switch my husband and my niece. Some people have reported that when you try to change the rooms before boarding, Carnival will try to charge you $50 for a name change. Just sign in at the pier and go to the purser's desk. The change of room will change the sign and sail account with each person. No problems!:D
Sandgnat Posted July 1, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 1, 2008 Yes when they do the rehab they will change the door locks. Sign in and then go to the pursers and get two keys to the rooms. Keep your own sign and sail card and the people that are switching rooms also keep one of the new keys to their room. Have a whole punched in both your key card and sign and sail card either at the casino or pursers desk and put on the lanyard you can get for free at the casino or bring one of your own. Have a great cruise.
