ANewCruiser Posted July 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2008 Our first time to Bermuda on the Explorer in a couple of weeks. We would like to visit Horseshoe Bay. I am reading about a "hill" leading down to the beach. DH has very bad knees(osteoarthritis) and does not do well going down hill. Should we avoid this beach? Is it very steep, or a very long way down? He can do short distances and not too steep. Going back up for him is not that bad! Anyone who can give us some insight on what to expect? Thanks so much..
herb Posted July 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2008 Under normal circumstances the hill going down is not the problem. It's the going up that most people opt to pay for the $1 ride, not because it's such a steep walk, but because they are just too tired from a day at the beach and too much sun and don't want to deal with the climb. In your case though, I would wait for the driver to come up the hill and I'm sure he will be more than happy to take you down the hill. (for $1 ea. ;) ) Horseshoe Bay Beach is something not to be missed...... Enjoy :)

Cruiser418 Posted July 2, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2008 I have read on the boards that if you don't see the van guy at the top of the hill, that you should ask someone walking down to ask him to come up for you. Apparently he does it all the time :)

Thanks so much.. Even though I have Osteoporosis in the knee I managed to walk the hill. There is a van that goes up and down, carrying passengers. If your DH really has a hard time walking, especially an incline, I would suggest taking the van. Worth the dollar.
