Rental Car in Vancouver

We'll be staying at the Pan Pacific in Vancouver Aug 4 - Aug 6. It's going to be a post-Alaskan cruise stay. I haven't mapped out what sites we want to see so this question may be tough to answer, but would you recommend a rental car for those 3 days? Are there certain not-to-miss activities/sites that a rental car would be required?

All of the biggies are here, Avis, National, Alamo, Enterprise, Hertz and Budget. I tend to be a Budget guy but I would advise you to get some quotes.

Granville Island

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Grouse Mountain Skyride

Cleveland Dam

Capilano Salmon Hatchery

Gastown

Yaletown

Queen Elizabeth Park

Van Dussen Botanical Gardens

Thanks for the list of sites! Would you advise having a rental car for these, or are cheap taxis / public transportation/ or walking options?

Candidly before paying for renting a car, $6/ gal gas, parking and putting up with traffic in a strange city.....I would do tours, transit and walk.:)
