sherrintxs Posted July 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Has anyone recently purchased vanilla from Los Cinco Soles? My cousin is getting ready to go on a cruise in 2 wks and I want to send money with her to buy me a big bottle...is $20 enough? Also, could someone post a pic or email me a pic, she is wanting to see what it looks like. I told her it is in a plastic bottle and at the store downtown it is located by the register, but that was the 2 times I have been there and I haven't been there since 2006. Thanks in advance. soon to cruise Posted July 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Hi, In 2007 it was still there by the register. I didnt notice this summer cause I wasnt looking for it. I think $20 is enough for a big bottle. I dont have a picture of it, but it's a brown bottle (you can still see liquid through it) and a white lable with a red line around it. There is a yellow block in the white part that says "Los Cino Soles" at the top and MEXICO at the bottom. It also says Natural Gourmet Vanilla on it. Hope that helps..... letsgocruz1 Posted July 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2008 i keep hearing about vanilla. What makes all of this so special? i mean, does it really make your foods taste that much better? I'm just curious to know... edited to add: I found this webpage and it looks informative. http://www.vanilla.com/html/facts-mexican.html
soon to cruise Posted July 8, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2008 One thing about this vanilla.....it's much stronger than regular vanilla that I usually use. So, I use half of what it calls for and it comes out good.
HRHMadonna Posted July 8, 2008 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2008 Keep in mind that if you are flying, any liquids over 3 oz cannot be in your carry-on luggage. If she's flying, you might want to send along a couple of zip lock bags and some bubble wrap so the bottle can be packed in checked luggage. Just a suggestion.
